Magdalena was born in Gangloff, Rheinland Pfalz on October 28, 1823. Her parents were Friedrick Schunck and Anna Marie Feldt. Three sons of Peter and Magdalena Kauth settled in Stark County (Massillon/Canton) Ohio. Peter (born May 6, 1848 arrived first, then my Grandfather Christian A., the youngest of the three (born February 8,1853) arrived in 1870, and Joseph, the middle one (born May 24, 1850), was the last to arrive. The naturalization papers for Christian and Joseph recorded their name as "Kouth" while Peter's papers gave the "Kauth" spelling.
